Mockup Manual
Choosing a free mockup
A phone frame can show how an app looks on a screen. A box or pouch can show how a label sits on packaging. Choose the object that matches your project.
Quick check
Look at the scene, editable layers and license before downloading.
What a mockup shows
A mockup puts your artwork on a photographed or rendered object. You can use one to preview a label on a bottle, a print on a shirt or an interface on a device.
Check whether the object, viewing angle and background suit the design. If the scene draws more attention than the artwork, try a simpler one.
Choose a format
Pick a category to see what matters in the file.
Free packaging mockups
Match the package shape.
- Best for
- Boxes, bottles, pouches and printed labels.
- Check first
- Check the dimensions and whether you can replace the label without rebuilding the scene.
A PSD preview may show a finished image. Open the actual file to see which layers and smart objects you can edit.
Check the PSD
The preview image will not tell you everything about the file.
- Layers. Make sure the PSD has an editable area for your artwork, often a smart object.
- Size and view. Check the file dimensions and whether the angle shows the part of the design you need.
- License. Read the creator's terms before using the mockup in client or commercial work.
The same checks apply to free t-shirt mockups and free phone mockups. Download the file that fits your design, not just the thumbnail you like.
